On 16th and 18th July 2024, CLEAR/J-PAL South Asia was invited by Anna Administrative Staff College, Tamil Nadu, to deliver lectures to incoming officers of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.
CLEAR/J-PAL South Asia staff conducted two lectures as part of a three-week long Foundational Training course for 80+ newly recruited Group 1 officers from different streams of administration including Revenue, Police, Commercial Tax, and Cooperation. This cross-thematic training covers a variety of topics such as leadership development, monitoring & evaluation, and more.
CLEAR/J-PAL’s two sessions explored aspects of data and evidence use, going into contextualising different types of data and how it can be leveraged for decision-making. Murali Mallikarjunan, Lead - State Partnerships (South India) at J-PAL South Asia introduced the officers to ‘Evidence-based Policy Making.’ Aparna Krishnan (Senior Advisor for J-PAL Global, South Asia, and Southeast Asia) and N Ramakrishnan (Training Associate, CLEAR/J-PAL South Asia) conducted a deep dive into using administrative data for policy making.
